Coaching is absolutely the best development tool available to pastors!

You and I, client and coach, are members of the same team. Our team communicates. Our team problem solves. We focus on your goals. We focus on your challenges. I am very skilled at what I do. You will become skilled, as well.

We each have specific responsibilities. We each play an active role:

Pastor's Role

Prior to each of our weekly sessions, you identify what you wish to accomplish in the session. We call this your agenda. We will spend time clarifying your agenda.

Our session is a one-to-one telephone conversation. It begins with your phone call to me. Length of sessions is approximately forty-five minutes.

It is essential that you be focused and prepared to engage. Do your assigned work between sessions. Try new approaches. Experiment.  Be open to changing your patterns.

My Role

As a trained coach, I use proven communication skills. I ask probing, open-ended questions. We explore your goals and challenges. I listen intently. I listen for coachable cues.

Potential roads to travel will be identified. Options, suggestions, possibilities will be offered.

In time, a shift in thinking will occur. A readiness for new action will be recognized. Steps, strategies, plans will become apparent. You will be energized. You will move forward.

Conclusion

Coaching is an investment in yourself. It will:

Restore your motivation
Renew your confidence
Enable your church to operate more efficiently
Enable you to use your talents more effectively
Increase your productivity

You will be inspired.
